Today saw some great statics, including a new national record for Lazy Seal Guy Brew. Once again, Guy shocked everyone present with an outstanding dive of 8:47!

Wellington Winter Champs 2009

The second competition of the New Zealand freediving calendar has now been announced by the Lazy Seals. The 2009 Wellington Winter Champs will take place at the Trust Porirua Aquatic Centre on the 11th & 12th of July. The pool competition will be contested in static breath-hold, dynamic with fins and dynamic without fins. All divers completing dives will recieve a world ranking.

Apniest's Challenge

Hello fellow freedivers! The Lazy Seals are happy to announce the Apneists' Challenge 2009, our first competition of the year. It will be held over the weekend of 16-17 May at the Trust Porirua Aquatic Centre. It is a pool competition, so divers will compete in static breath-hold, dynamic with fins and dynamic without fins.

Top ranking for three Seals

Kathryn McPhee, Dave Mullins and Guy Brew all ended 2008 on a high, taking four World Freediving Awards between them.

No Bubbles freediving course

Fran from No Bubbles is coming back to Wellington to run another weekend freeiving course 13-15 February. here will be theory on the Friday evening with two full on days of diving and trying out different techniques over the weekend. These courses are highly recommended to everyone from absolute beginner freedivers to the most acomplished spearo.

Dive Camp '09

The first week of the new year was a productive one for several of the lazy seals, with the first ever Dive Camp NZ going off without a hitch.

Lazy Seals nab the 2008 ICARE Awards

In December last year, Lazy Seals Kathryn McPhee and David Mullins were awarded the ICARE trophy for Best Female and Best Male Freediver of the year, respectively.
